Tried everything else I could find through google, except for a full uninstall/reinstall (which I figured was not going to help because I had just done a clean install from the HP drivers site).įor me, the fix came when I did two things: I have a mac, was getting the scan error. I know this is an old thread, but I'll share what worked for me on my HP OfficeJet 7612. Once I gave it a new name, I restarted the HP Utility software and selected scan and it instantly said 'Scan to Computer is Enabled' with the green button lit.įor me, a simple solution to a 3 hour search and troubleshoot session. I checked the new coumputer and saw that it had no name at all (found under the Sharing icon in System Preferences). On the Scan to Computer More Info button, I saw that it needed a unique name for your computer. The document is the scanned and placed in the Pictures folder. Then I click on 'Open Scanner' which opens a separate window where I can control the attributes of the scan. Then the pane on the right shows the selected printer and near the top I then select 'Scan' just to the right of 'Print'. Once open I then select the Officejet 6700 from the list on the left. I am able to initiate a scan from the computer by opening the System Preferences, Clicking on 'Print & Scan'. Under scan settings, click Scan to Computer and ensure that Enable Scan to Computer is selected'. On the printer control panel, I select Scan then Computer and it says 'To scan to computer, make sure the feature is enabled. This works even though according to the Status pane the Scan to Computer is still trying to enable. A small HP Scan window pops up and says 'Preparing to scan' then 'Scanning'. While the software is still trying to enable scan to computer I can click on one of the shortcuts and press test. While that is going on I select Scan Tasks and a list of 6 shortcuts appear. The cursor makes the spinning motion and says 'Enabling Scan to Computer'. In the Status pane Enable Scan to computer is checked. When opening the HP Utility the computer connects to the device (Officejet 6700 ), then at the bottom I click the Scan icon. The firmware printer firmware version is MPM3CN1232AR which is the most current. There was 1 update but it does not apply.

I have removed and reinstalled the full feature software for Mac OS 10.6, 7 and 8. Our Macbook Pro 17 with os 10.6 works fine as well as with my Dell laptop (Windows XP). I have a new iMac 27 that scan to computer does not work with our Officejet 6700.

We have an Officejet 6700 All-in-One attached to our wireless network. Hello (Skip to the end to find the solution I found worked for me)Īparantly this has become a common problem with many Mac users.
